When things fall apart...reach into your toolbox

“Things falling apart is a kind of testing and also a kind of healing. We think that the point is to pass the test or to overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don’t really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It’s just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.” Pema Chodron

This challenging time and the full 'flower moon' in Scorpio last night are stirring up a lot of emotions that until this moment may have been deeply buried, or at least well camouflaged, by the speed of our busy lives and daily routines. This is a difficult time and also a very sacred time as we are forced to find creative ways to adapt to our new normals. My daily yoga and meditation practice are literally putting me back together when it feels like things are falling apart and I know I'm not alone in this experience. Last week I cried some amount in every single morning yoga practice. Allowing this time to tune in and release began to feel deeply sacred and prayerful. I am sending you all a virtual hug and a virtual box of tissues to dry your tears. I invite you to allow your tears to flow whenever they surface without shame. Please give yourself permission to remain open and vulnerable so the entire spectrum of emotions can pass through you in waves and find release instead of being stored in the body as dis-ease. Be kind and compassionate with yourself and with others, especially when their discomfort or your own surfaces in unattractive ways through fear and anxiety which often manifest as anger, rage or depression. Now is the time to practice radical self care and to use every single tool in your toolbox to find strength, resilience and a deep acceptance of whatever surfaces in the present moment. I am so grateful for our community and for the teachers who are reminding us daily how to put ourselves back together. Although we are physically distant from one another, I am feeling more deeply connected to each and every one of you as we join together in these sacred practices. with love & care, Sarah
