"Fear" by Khalil Gibran
Updated: Apr 29, 2020
Fear It is said that before entering the sea a river trembles with fear. She looks back at the path she has traveled, from the peaks of the mountains, the long winding road crossing forests and villages. And in front of her, she sees an ocean so vast, that to enter there seems nothing more than to disappear forever. But there is no other way. The river can not go back. Nobody can go back. To go back is impossible in existence. The river needs to take the risk of entering the ocean because only then will fear disappear, because that’s where the river will know it’s not about disappearing into the ocean, but of becoming the ocean. - Kahlil Gibran

Thank you, Jodi Boone, for sharing this powerful poem at the end of our Saturday morning yoga practice. It feels so important to seek out and soak up inspiration through poetry, song and time in nature during this stunningly beautiful spring in Seattle where the air feels fresher than ever. Stay inspired and find ways to elevate yourself & surrender to the unknown. You may find great relief and discover silver or even golden linings in each moment if you can let go like a backwards trust fall into the arms of the universe. If you struggle & can't find peace & gratitude on your own, reach out to someone, anyone, for help. Let's all keep taking excellent care of ourselves and each other. My yoga practice feels like a chance, every day, to reconnect with myself and choose a positive outlook filled with gratitude for every healthy breath, every bite of nourishing food, every smile, every tear, every moment on this earth, no matter how challenging or heavy. Create space for yourself to surrender and release so we can all continue to carry the burden of these difficult times together. It can be really hard to not feel all alone in this, but we are all in this together. with love and care, Sarah
