Dancing Yoga with Nicole

nicole_dance_tree_square

A unique blend of dancing and yoga, this class explores finding freedom and expression in moving while developing physical strength and flexibility. We will creatively combine traditional ballet and modern dance technique as well as inspiration from Breakdancing, African, Indian, and Latin dance with yoga postures, sequences and philosophy to develop a deeper body awareness and grace. We will also play with improvisation scores and partnering skills as well as include time for free dancing and play with props and equipment.

Nicole Lobuzzetta is a professional performer, choreographer, dance teacher and yoga instructor. A native of Pittsburgh, PA, she received her BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from Ohio University and is a Yogalife-certified and Yoga Alliance registered yoga instructor. She has been teaching children, teens and adults for over 10 years and is passionate about helping people of all ages develop confidence, body awareness and self-expression through moving. Her own expression of dance has been influenced by exploring styles such as aerial dance, contact improv, gymnastics, and breakdance.

Circus Arts with Michael

michael_sq

Come tumble, climb, and swing on the obstacle course. Play creative circus games and find your inner mime. Construct buildings with each other by people stacking, also known as acrobatic balancing. Learn to juggle, manipulate objects, and move with style. Circus arts make exercising fun while also developing coordination, balance, strength, flexibility, creativity, cooperation and confidence. We’ll focus on specific circus skills and activities each week, and (as with all OmCulture after-school classes) allow free time to practice new or favorite skills.

Michael Suzerris is founder of Yogalife Studios and OmCulture. Though his main practice has been yoga for the past 25 years, he has also studied and practiced many martial arts: judo, karate, taekwondo and kendo. He has been, over the years, a runner, biker and skier. His first love was gymnastics and his current love is to combine all of the above to give all kids a physical outlet that relies on their individuality and attitude rather than size or speed. Michael has four kids who range in age from 5 to 31. You can often find him joining the song and rhythm circle for our OmKids (toddlers) program as well.
